Getting Ready For Our Scarecrow Festival

First graders are busy finishing up their colorful scarecrow portraits and 3-D paper pumpkins for a school art show. These scarecrows are delightful. As a whole group, students learned to draw a scarecrow, step by step during a guided drawing lesson. Its amazing to see what 6 year olds CAN do! Childrens art is the best in my opinion.

Today we used watercolor paint to finish the background. Awesome. Students then learned how to transform flat, 2-D paper into a 3-D pumpkin! Oh, they came out GREAT! Didn't have the camera at work today so you'll have to wait and see the finished display next week!

Remember, if you want to know more about any of my art projects, just let me know. I'd love to share what I have.

Crayon Cookies! Yummmm

This blog has had a slow start but I'm hoping that things are changing. Its hard keeping up one blog let alone two. I had hoped that other art teachers would contribute but no one has stepped up as of yet. I bet once this gets going, that will change.

This is a photo of the crayon cookies that kindergartners recently made. It wrapped up a color unit we did and helped transition into our talks about Texture!! Oh, what fun it was making and using them! We created Texture Books and took loads of crayon rubbings.

This blog is all about sharing so if you want to know how I did this or any other information please just ask. I'm also thinking up a separate page listing directions, ingrediants or handouts.....gotta figure out how to attach pdf's if thats possible!!
